In 1888, Clerkenwell, Shoreditch, and Southwark were bustling neighborhoods in London. Clerkenwell was known for its printing industry, while Shoreditch was home to many breweries and furniture makers. Southwark was an industrial district with a diverse population, including many immigrants.

Historical places of interest in Clerkenwell include the well-preserved St. John's Gate and the Charterhouse, which was once a Carthusian monastery and later served as a Tudor mansion and a school. Shoreditch was home to the Old Street roundabout, which was once the site of a notorious slum called the Holywell Mount. Southwark's landmarks included the historic Borough Market, which still stands today, and the famous music hall, the Elephant and Castle.

The class of people who lived in these neighborhoods varied widely, but they were generally working-class. Many of the residents of Clerkenwell were employed in the printing and publishing industries, while those in Shoreditch worked in the brewing and furniture trades. Southwark's population was much more diverse, with many working in the docks, factories, and markets of the area. Immigrants, especially from Ireland and Eastern Europe, also made up a significant portion of the population.

Whether you're a history buff, a cartography enthusiast, or simply looking for a unique piece of decor for your home or office, this map is sure to delight. It's a piece of history that you can own and enjoy for years to come.
