Rushey Green and Grove Park, located in the south-eastern part of London in 1908, were largely rural areas, characterized by lush greenery and small communities. The main church in the area was St Augustine's Church, which had been built in the early 19th century and was a prominent landmark. The church featured a striking tower and spire, and was a focal point for the community. The church was also known for its beautiful stained-glass windows, which depicted scenes from the Bible.

One of the main historical places of interest in the area was the Horniman Museum and Gardens, which had opened in 1901. The museum housed a wide range of exhibits, including natural history specimens, cultural artifacts from around the world, and musical instruments. The gardens were also a popular attraction, featuring a large collection of plants and trees from all over the world.

Another notable site was the Grove Park Hospital, which had opened in 1896 as a smallpox hospital. By 1908, the hospital had expanded to include other wards and facilities, and was an important healthcare provider in the area. The hospital was known for its innovative treatments and modern facilities.

Overall, Rushey Green and Grove Park were quiet and peaceful areas in 1908, with a strong sense of community and a few notable landmarks and attractions.
