In 1908, Tooting and Streatham were suburban areas in the south of London, and had begun to attract more residents due to their proximity to the city center. Tooting was known for its lively market, which was established in the 16th century, and was one of the largest in the area. It sold everything from fruit and vegetables to live animals. In addition, Tooting had several large parks, including Tooting Bec Common and Tooting Graveney Common, which were popular for sports and leisure activities.

Streatham, on the other hand, was a more affluent area and was known for its elegant villas and large gardens. One of the most notable historical buildings in the area was Streatham Park, a large mansion that had been built in the early 18th century. It was later owned by the wealthy Beaufoy family, who used it as a country retreat. In addition to its historic homes, Streatham was also home to several churches, including St. Leonard's Church, which was built in the 14th century.

Other places of interest in the area included Tooting Bec Lido, which was built in 1906 and was one of the largest outdoor swimming pools in the world, as well as the Streatham Hill Theatre, which was a popular venue for music and theater performances. Overall, Tooting and Streatham were rapidly growing suburbs of London in 1908, with a mix of historical and modern attractions.

Whether you're a history buff, a cartography enthusiast, or simply looking for a unique piece of decor for your home or office, this map is sure to delight. It's a piece of history that you can own and enjoy for years to come.
